Maca is a cruciferous plant native to the Andes Mountains of Peru. The tuber of this plant is rich in starch and tastes similar to potatoes. In the Andes Mountains region, maca tubers are both a staple food and used for various medicinal purposes. Maca can be cooked and mashed; it can be mixed with milk; or it can be dried and ground into flour for making bread, cakes, and cookies. Due to its many benefits, maca root is now also widely popular in Europe.
