Lutein and Zeaxanthin are free radical scavenging carotenoids that are preferentially deposited into the macula, a specialized area of the eye responsible for central vision. Acting as primary filters of high-energy blue light, Lutein and Zeaxanthin help to promote normal visual health by neutralizing free radicals formed by exposure, which are critical for normal recovery from bright light exposure and the maintenance of healthy contrast sensitivity.
